STS Paonta School: PGPs and Collaborative Practices

STS-Paonta-Pic1STS Poanta School has 24 teachers who come under the Teacher Professional Development Project which will benefit 384 students. Under the leadership of the school Principal Mr. Namgyal Yarphel la and the Headmistress Miss. Kalsang la, the school is implementing both the PGP and Collaborative practices and are going on well. On the very outset, Orientation and workshop has been given to the teachers of both the section, Primary and Senior by the school Headmistress.

STS Poanta PGP Sharing Session

School-STS-Poanta-0111th August 2014:  Today we had a gathering of teachers to share their Professional Growth Plan for the academic session. It is a part of Professional Development plan in order for a teacher to grow professionally by carrying our action plan and conducting small research at a local level. The plan includes the identification of an issue or an area of concern, presenting the statement of intent, discussion on the procedures to be followed in the course of the action plan, specifying the time frame and the outcome of the exercise. The teachers have selected various different fields of study and plan to adopt diverse ways to tackle their issues. It was a very informative and an eye opening session and the resources they have pooled in are invaluable. A word of appreciation to all the teachers for your planning part now the actual hard work begins.............Let's go for it.

Orientation to the teachers regarding the TPD

activity-05All teachers were provided with a comprehensive orientation on the new approach to Professional Development on 24th Jan 2014. A copy of the Teacher Professional Development Framework and Guidelines was given to all teachers to foster the deeper understanding of the new approach.

Teacher's Reading Corner
Teacher's reading corner was created in the staff room on 15th Feb 2014 with a range of books covering Pedagogy and other related topics. Separate book shelf was bought to keep these books for teacher's ready reference and for ease of issuing purpose. Two teachers were appointed as the in-charge for the issue/return of the books and for maintaining a reading logbook.
