Early grade reading workshop for primary teachers underway

early-grade-reading-workshop-01A ten-day 'Early Grade Reading Workshop for Primary Teachers' organized by the Education Department is currently underway at Nyatri hall. Fifty primary teachers from 27 Tibetan Schools under the school administration of Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society (STSS), Tibetan Children's Villages (TCV), Tibetan Homes Foundation (THF) and Snow Lion Foundation, Nepal (SLF) are attending the workshop.

 

 

The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Ngodup Tsering, Secretary of the Department of Education this morning. The workshop would be held in two batches of 25 teachers each from June 3-7 & 9-13 respectively.

 

early-grade-reading-workshop-02The main purpose of this workshop is to enhance early grade reading in Tibetan schools. It is being held as per the recommendations of the Education Advisory Committee Meeting held last year.

The Department of Education has developed a strategy to improve general reading culture in schools with special focus on early grade reading to improve children's academic learning.The resource persons for the workshop are Prof. Krishna Kumar and Dr. Latika Gupta from Central Institute of Education, Delhi University.
