Pre-Service Teacher-Training for Bhuntar Students at NCERT & CTU

teacher-training-bhuntar-students-03February 24, 2014, The Department of Education, CTA conducted a three-week training in New Delhi on basic pedagogy and English language skill in collaboration with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), an apex educational resource organization in India for 20 B.Ed. students of Centre for Teacher Education, Bhuntar from February 3-22, 2014.


Inter-active sessions were arranged on pedagogy which includes sessions on developing language skills, understanding the learners, cognitive development, teacher education-an overview and emerging perspectives, growing as a teacher: Continuous Professional Development, integrating ICT in language education, activities based on phonetics and spoken English, children with special needs: how to support them, and reading pedagogy & assignment. The participant were also taken tour to NCERT Library and World Book Fair. Education Officers,Tsering Phuntsok and Tsering Dhondup paid a visit to the NCERT for the opening days and met with pupil-teachers and faculty members of Department of Education in Languages, NCERT. Secretary Ngodup Tsering and Topgyal Tsering also met with the students on 6th Feb. They also made a courtesy call on Prof. Parveen Sinclair, Director NCERT.

In January 2014, the Department of Education, CTA organized a month long pre-service teacher training for 50 students (B.Sc. B.Ed. & B.A. B.Ed.) of Centre for Teacher Education at Calorx Teachers University in Ahmedabad from Jan 2 to 31, 2014. They had hands on practice on teaching and classroom observation besides pedagogical learning on language skills, child psychology, concept of child centred education, effective teaching methods and few lessons on organic chemistry. Mr. Tashi Dhondup, Director CTE Bhuntar paid a brief visit to Ahmedabad to assess the progress of our trainees.The above two pre-service trainings have been funded by USAID through The Tibet Fund.
