A week-long "In-service training for TGT Science Teachers" of Tibetan Schools, organized by the Department of Education, CTA is currently underway at NCERT, New Delhi . The in-service training is being held from August 21 to 27, 2014.
Twenty-one science teachers from Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society (STSS), Tibetan Children's Village Schools (TCV), Tibetan Homes Foundation (THF) and Snow Lion Foundation (SLF, Nepal) are participating in the workshop. Mr. Tsering Dhondup, Education Officer, DoE is camped at NCERT to co-ordinate the programme.
The training was inaugurated on Aug. 21, 2014. The chief Guest for the inaugural session was the Dean of Academics, NCERT. Other dignitaries include Dr. A.K. Wazalwar, Professor and Head of Department of Education in Science and Mathematics (DESM), Dr. Gagan Gupta, Associate Professor, co-ordinator of the program and other faculty members of DESM, NCERT.
The main purpose of this in-service training is to enhance innovative techniques in teaching of science on practical basis; to promote science education and create scientific temper among the students. The training package has been designed and provided by the Department of Education in Science and Mathematics, NCERT with funding assistance from the SOIR-IM, Sweden.
